Banwari Lal

Banwari Lal (Hindi: बनवारी लाल, Urdu: بنواری لال) was a prominent Indian revolutionary who became an Approver in the historical Kakori conspiracy case of 1925.

He hailed from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

He belonged to Hindustan Republican Association (HRA, which after 1928 became the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association or HSRA) that was created to carry out revolutionary activities against the British Empire in India.

Banwari Lal, who participated in Kakori train robbery held on 9 August 1925 was the District Organiser of Hindustan Republican Association in the Raibareli district of Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested on 26 September 1925 at Raibareli, the place of his posting. When police pressurised him, he was broken from within and helped the court in getting the case strong against all accused. For this he was given previlage of the simple sentence of 2 years only.
